After you've cast the vision, done the teaching and set out the strategy that the Borwn Devotions give, it's time for some ACTION!
The kids are excited. The leaders believe it will happen.
Great things are in store!
Here are some thoughts to help with the followup for the Brown Devotions:
Promotion
- newsletter - include a section in your outpost newsletter
- by Senior Commander during opening and closing parades
- by unit commanders each and every week
- discuss who the kids are inviting in patrol corners
- use this as a prayer focus in devotions or bible study
- what problems being encountered in inviting their friends
- feed this up-line to Senior Commander
- develop strategies to counter problems
- incentives or contests may be appropriate
Commander duties and responsibilities
- promotion as outlined above
- help child overcome obstacles
- feed problems up-line to Senior Commander
- give recognition to friends in patrol-time
- include friends immediately in program (have a strategy for this)
- have "special fun things" up your sleeve when friends come
- postpone "advancement work" in order to "include" friends
- let Senior Commander know for opening/closing parade recognition
- encourage kids
- recruit leader - how is this going!
- feed problems up line to Senior Commander
Go forth and multiply!
