TITLE:Be generous
AIM:To encourage Rangers to put others first
TEXT:Genesis 13:96
OBJECT:Candy snake and knife

Begin the devotion by asking the children for various methods of sharing things.

For example you come home from school and your mother tells you there is a large piece of cake to share between you and your sister. How do you share the cake?

Some methods include "You cut and I choose" or "I'm bigger and older, therefore I get the bigger piece" etc...

Ask for a volunteer

Cut the snake in 2 pieces, making one twice as big as the other.

Now ask the volunteer to choose a piece for themselves. Let them eat the piece they chose.

Retell the story of Abram and Lot as recorded in Genesis 13.

Make these points to conclude: Abram is generous "if you go left, I'll go right" Lot took the "big piece" - the good land Abram was blessed by God. He was generous Abram made the "faith" choice Lot made the "sight" choice God blessed Abram

Proverbs 11:25 "A generous man will prosper"

Proverbs 22:9 "A generous man will himself be blessed"

What kind of a person are you? Will you choose to be generous in every decision you have to make this week?

Let's pray.
