TITLE:That none should perish
AIM:Show God's great love
TEXT:Genesis 18:16-33 and 2 Peter 3:9
OBJECT:Length of rope

Show rope. Discuss using it in life saving - to save someone who's drowning. A rope can be thrown to a drowning person and they can be pulled into safety. But a rope can also be let go, if your life is in danger (you might be being pulled in...).

Now tell the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. Note that God was willing to spare the cities if 50, then 45, then 40, then 30, then 20 and finally if 10 rightwous people could be found ing hte cities.

v32 For the sake of 10 I will not destroy it.

2 Peter 3:9 "He [the Lord] is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance."

Conclude
In life saving you're taught not to put out your arm, but rather to use a rope or a stick, in case you are pulled in.

Jesus saved our life. He not only held out his arm, but he laid down his life - dying in our place - so that we could spend eternity with Him in heaven.

Let's pray.

[call for salvations]
