TITLE:How to get a good night sleep
AIM:To get children praying before going to sleep
TEXT:Genesis 28:11-3
OBJECT:Pillow (and optional large rock)

[show pillow]

Do you ever have trouble going to sleep?
Ever had a bad dream?
Ever woken up more tired than when you went to sleep?

Especially at this time of year boys and girls and men and women get very tired. We get excited about Christmas and holidays and we get stressed over exams and over finishing off our work before our break.

Listen to the wonderful sleep that Jacob had:

Gen. 28:11 When he reached a certain place, he stopped for the night because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones there, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep.

Gen. 28:12 He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.

Gen. 28:13 There above it stood the LORD, and he said: "I am the LORD, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying.

[if using rock - show it now]

He slept on a rock and had all these wonderful dreams from God.

You too can sleep and rest in peace. before you go to sleep pray and ask Jesus to keep you safe, to give you rest and to give you wonderful dreams.

Let's pray...
