Royal Rangers is a church-based scouting program for boys and girls aged between five and seventeen years of age. Rangers runs in some 72 different countries around the world. Each Royal Ranger Outpost (the local unit of Rangers) is autonomous and [usually] under the control of a local Assemblies of God pastor. In my writings I refer to this as the sponsor organisation.

The Outpost is headed up by a Senior Commander. The Senior Commander may or may not have a body of men and women who advise, finance and help staff the Outpost. This body is called the Outpost Council. If it exists the pastor is a member - and also takes the role of Outpost Chaplin.
